Alaska Association of Assessing Officers (AAAO)

Mission

The Alaska Association of Assessing Officers' (AAAO's) overall goal is to promote justice and equity in the distribution of the tax burden. The Alaska Association of Assessing Officers' mission is to:

  • Improve standards of the assessment practice;
  • Elevate the standards of personnel requirements of assessing officers by promoting and promulgating continuing education in the assessment field;
  • Enlighten assessing officers, other governmental officials and the taxpaying public on the true nature and importance of the work performed by assessment professionals;
  • Cooperate with other public and private agencies interested in improving tax administration.

AAAO 2013 Summer Meeting

The AAAO 2013 Summer Meeting is scheduled for July 22-25, 2013, at the River Center in Soldotna. Business meetings will be conducted the 22nd & 23rd, and additional workshops or events are tentatively planned for the 24th & 25th. Please forward potential agenda items to AAAO President, Tom Anderson

Alaska Certified Assessor/Appraiser (ACAA) Program

Assessing officers and appraisers who meet certain prescribed qualifications, and who have achieved outstanding proficiency and ability in the assessment field, are recognized professionally through certification by the Alaska Certified Assessing/Appraiser(ACAA) Program, a professional designation program administered by the AAAO Certification Board. The AAAO Certification Board confers professional designation in the assessment field through five certification levels:  ACAA I, through ACAA V.  For more information or to verify credentials, please contact any member of the AAAO Certification Board:  Ivar Halvarson, Karl McManus, or Shelley Fritts.
