Grants Administration Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) – 2018 Cook Inlet Earthquake FEMA Disaster #4413 HUD-identified "most impacted and distressed" area: Municipality of Anchorage State-identified "most impacted and distressed" areas: Matanuska-Sustina Borough Kenai Peninsula Borough The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development works to rebuild Alaskan communities by putting Alaskans back in their homes, restoring critical infrastructure and mitigating future damage through resilient community planning. The Division of Community and Regional Affairs is the lead agency for administering the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds on behalf of the state of Alaska. More than $35.8 million has been allocated for recovery from the 2018 Cook Inlet Earthquake. This disaster impacted more than 60 percent of the state’s population living in the Municipality of Anchorage, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough and the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Maximum benefit is $50,000 per household for 24 months. For more information, go to NeighborWorks Alaska Cook Inlet Housing Authority (CIHA) Affordable Housing Program: Provides assistance to Cook Inlet Housing Authority for new construction of affordable housing and permanent supportive housing within the Municipality of Anchorage and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. For more information, go to Cook Inlet Housing Authority. Spenard East Phase II, consists of 38 affordable units in the form of townhouses, eight-plexes, and a duplex, $4.26 million. Providence Alaska House, consists of 51 permanent supportive housing units for seniors, $1.75 million. Mountain View 21, consists of 21 multi-family affordable housing units, $2.7 million. Aspen House, consists of 32 affordable housing units for seniors, $2.5 million. Old Mat Housing Phase II, consists of 24 affordable housing units in the form of townhouses for seniors, $625,190. HUD-assisted Housing Program: Provides $5,737,600 assistance to conduct seismic studies, seismic/structural analysis and seismic retrofits or replacement of HUD-assisted housing within the Municipality of Anchorage. Affordable Replacement Housing Program: Provides $6 million for new construction of additional and replacement affordable housing within the Municipality of Anchorage. Home Repair Program: Allows homeowners to have repairs made to their home including rehabilitation and/or replacement up to $200,000 within the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Planning Activities:Provides $2,250,000 for the Municipality of Anchorage, $281,250 for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, and $281,250 for the Kenai Peninsula Borough to update various hazard mitigation and land use plans.
