Alaska Broadband Office

Overview

The Alaska Broadband Office (ABO) oversees the State of Alaska's efforts to ensure all Alaskans have high quality, affordable internet. This will be done through two federal programs: the Digital Equity (DE) Act and the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. These programs, established under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) passed by Congress in November 2021, allocate funds to expand broadband access for underserved and unserved communities in Alaska.

How to Use The Broadband Serviceable Location Map

The above map allows Alaskans to find their Broadband Serviceable Location in order to evaluate the color on the map against their real-life experience. A Broadband Serviceable Location refers to a location where broadband internet service is available and can be accessed by consumers or businesses. If there is disagreement between the map and real life, the ABO will be opening a challenge portal for folks to challenge the map on May 6, 2024.
