Opportunity Zones 2.0

Alaska is positioning communities across the state for new investment and economic growth through Opportunity Zones 2.0, a federal program designed to encourage long-term investment in economically distressed areas through tax incentives. On Sept. 28, 2026, Governor Mike Dunleavy submitted Alaska's selection of 25 census tracts for designation under the updated program, with the new Opportunity Zones taking effect Jan. 1, 2027. These designations create opportunities to attract private capital, support business development, and strengthen local economies.
