Board of Marital and Family Therapy

Examinations

Important MFT Examination Information:

Applicants must apply for a Marital and Family Therapy Associate’s (MFTA) license and receive approval from the Board of Marital and Family Therapy to be eligible to sit for the AMFTRB and state jurisprudence examinations.

The Association of Marital and Family Therapy Regulatory Board (AMFTRB) is partnered with the Professional Testing Corporation (PTC).

Licensed MFTA’s must notify the division at BoardOfMaritalAndFamilyTherapy@Alaska.Gov to register for both the AMFTRB and state jurisprudence examinations.

Seventeen hundred (1700) hours of clinical contact and 200 hours of direct supervision must be completed along with successful passage of both the AMFTRB and the state jurisprudence exams to be eligible to apply for full licensure as a Marital and Family Therapist (MFT). The MFT is a separate license type with its own application, applicable fees, and requirements.
