Behavior Analysts Frequently Asked Questions Application by Exam vs. Credentials Application Processing and Status Updates BACB Certification Equivalency Complaints License Verification Stale Documents Temporary License Application by Exam vs. Credentials A person who has never been licensed to practice behavior analysis or does not hold a current, active license as a behavior analyst will apply by exam. A person who holds an active license in good standing to practice behavior analysis will apply by credentials. Application Processing and Status Updates Once your completed application, all applicable fees and supporting documents have been received by the division, it can take 10-14 business days for your application to be processed. Allow an additional four to six weeks for the licensing examiner to review your application and make a decision. We will contact you through the MY LICENSE self-service portal about the decision on your application. BACB Certification Equivalency It has been determined that the Qualified Behavior Analyst/Qualified Applied Behavior Analyst (QBA/QABA) certification is equivalent to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) certification. License Verification The state of Alaska no longer provides hard copy verification of license. You may find a copy of your free primary source verification of license by utilizing the professional licensing public license search. Stale Documents You may send in supporting documentation before you send in your application. However, after one year of the date received, documents are considered “stale” and will be marked VOID. If your application is not received within 1 year after a document is received, they will not be used for the license application. New documentation will need to be submitted in accordance with 12 AAC 02.915. Temporary License A temporary nonrenewable license that allows for the short-term practice of Behavior Analysis in the state of Alaska for 30 days total in a 12-month period of time.
