The offices of the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23. Offices will open with regular business hours on Monday, November 26.

USPS Mail Notice

The USPS will no longer deliver mail to the physical address in Juneau.

All mail sent to CBPL in Juneau must be addressed to:

Deliveries by private courier service may be sent to the physical address. The USPS will return all mail addressed to the State Office Building in Juneau to the sender which may impact your ability to obtain or maintain licensure.


  Online License Renewal  

Online RN and APRN renewal available until November 30, 2018.

Valid license numbers contain either:

6 numbers, or;
4 letters + at least 1 number.

If you have an alpha-numeric license number, you must enter all of the characters in order to renew online.

MY LICENSE Online Renewal

Please use our convenient MY LICENSE online renewal application. In most cases your license will be renewed immediately. Due to a heavy volume of renewal activities, processing time for renewal applications received by mail may take up to 4-6 weeks.

To use our online services you need to register for a MY LICENSE account.
(You may have already registered using the email sent by the division on May 10.)

If you have not registered, follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit the MY LICENSE customer home page at: ProfessionalLicense.Alaska.Gov/MYLICENSE
  2. If you have an existing myAlaska account, enter your account information. If not, please create an account. You will be redirected to the MY LICENSE customer home page.
  3. Under Access an Existing License, enter your license number and Web Authorization Code, if one has been provided. This information is on your renewal notice.
  4. To renew your license, simply select the license you wish to renew from the Professional Licensing section.

INSTITUTIONS AND EMPLOYERS:
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing offers a service that will notify you by email about license status changes (e.g., expirations) and disciplinary actions against RNs and LPNs that you employ. The information comes from NURSYS, a national database which receives its data from participating boards of nursing nationwide, including the Alaska Board of Nursing. IMPORTANT NOTICE AS OF JULY 1, 2018 THE FOLLOWING REQUREMENTS WENT INTO EFFECT

  • If you hold a current DEA registration, 2 hours of education in pain management and opioid use and addiction in the two year renewal period is required. These must be submitted to the division to renew your license.
  • If you are applying for or hold a DEA registration, you must register for the PDMP after receiving your DEA number.

Alaska's Prescription Drug Monitoring Program

IMPORTANT PDMP FEE NOTICE

The division reviewed all public comments relating to the proposed fees for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP). Originally proposed at $50.00 for initial registration and renewal, the fee amounts have since been reassessed and reduced. Effective April 22, 2018 and required by 12 AAC 02.107, a $25.00 initial and $25.00 renewal registration fee will be required by all pharmacists who dispense and practitioners who prescribes, administers, or directly dispenses a schedule II – IV controlled substance before initial or continued access to the database is granted. Submission of PDMP registration fees will be integrated into the license renewal process; no PDMP fees are due from existing users prior to April 22, 2018. THE MISSION OF THE ALASKA BOARD OF NURSING IS TO ACTIVELY PROMOTE AND PROTECT THE HEALTH OF THE CITIZENS OF ALASKA THROUGH THE SAFE AND EFFECTIVE PRACTICE OF NURSING AS DEFINED BY LAW.

The Board adopts regulations to carry out the laws governing the practice of Nursing and the work of Nurse Aides in Alaska. It makes final licensing decisions and takes disciplinary action against people who violate the licensing laws.

The Board meets four times a year and offers a public comment period at each meeting.
