Notice of Proposed Regulations

The Board of Professional Counselors proposes to update their regulations relating to continuing education requirements for license renewals in Title 12, Chapter 62 of the Alaska Administrative Code).

Written comments deadline: 4:30 p.m. on February 21, 2023

Hard Copy License Certificates Discontinued

The division has expanded our online services to allow licensees to download their own license certificates on demand. As a result, the division no longer mails hardcopy license certificates. The certificates will be located under the “initial application” and “renewal” events in the MY LICENSE account.

The Board of Professional Counselors is staffed by the Division of Corporations, Business, and Professional Licensing. The board consists of four professional counselors and one public member. Board members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Legislature.

The Board adopts regulations to carry out laws governing the practice of professional counseling in Alaska. It makes final licensing decisions and takes disciplinary actions against people who violate licensing laws. The board offers a public comment period at each meeting. Meeting agendas are available from the licensing examiner.
