Valid License Numbers Contain Either:

6 numbers
OR
4 letters + at least 1 number

If you have an alpha-numeric license number, you must enter all of the characters in order to renew online. EXAMPLE: ABCD1234

MY LICENSE Online Renewal

Please use our convenient MY LICENSE online renewal application. In most cases your license will be renewed immediately. Due to a heavy volume of renewal activities, processing time for renewal applications received by mail may take up to 4-6 weeks.

If you have not registered, follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit the MY LICENSE customer home page at: ProfessionalLicense.Alaska.Gov/MYLICENSE
  2. If you have an existing myAlaska account, enter your account information. If not, please create an account. You will be redirected to the MY LICENSE customer home page.
  3. Under Access an Existing License, enter your license number and Web Authorization Code, if one has been provided. This information is on your renewal notice.
  4. To renew your license, simply select the license you wish to renew from the Professional Licensing section.

Telehealth Notice:

On May 6, 2020, the Board of Nursing adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in 12 AAC 44.770, .925, and .990, dealing with standards of practice for telehealth. The emergency regulation took effect on May 7, 2020 and will expire September 3, 2020. The Board intends to make the emergency regulation permanent. 2020 RN/LPN License Renewal Requirements:

On May 6 the Alaska State Board of Nursing per authority of SB241 Sec. 6 (b)(2) decreased the 2020 license renewal requirement to provide 30 hours of continuing education to 15 hours of continuing education for both licensed practical nurses and registered nurses. The Board also waived the professional activity hours under audit requirements of 12 AAC 44.610.- 12 AAC 44.620. for the September 30, 2020 and November 30, 2020, license renewal.

Temporary Permits & Courtesy Licenses:

On April 16, 2020, the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in 12 AAC 02.280 regarding waiving the temporary permit and courtesy license fees for LPNs, RNs, and APRNs. Emergency Nursing Courtesy License:

On April 6, 2020, the Alaska Board of Nursing adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in 12 AAC 44.318 dealing with courtesy license. The emergency regulation took effect on April 10, 2020, and will expire August 7, 2020. Please click HERE to see the filed emergency regulation version.

To apply for the Emergency Nursing Courtesy License, choose one of the options available below:

Nurse Aide Certification Renewal Date Extension:

On March 20, 2020, the Board of Nursing adopted, as an emergency regulation, changes in 12 AAC 44.815, Issuance and renewal of certification. The emergency regulation deals with extension of the biennial nurse aide certification (CNA) renewal date. The CNA expiration renewal date has been extended to July 23, 2020 to allow healthcare worker availability during this public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The emergency regulation changes were filed by the Lieutenant Governor on March 26, 2020, and takes effect immediately. Please click HERE to see the filed emergency regulation version.

COVID-19 Fee Notice:

The division director has determined that license fees will not be increased during the COVID-19 emergency. If you have comments or questions about this decision, please email regulationsandpubliccomment@alaska.gov.

Alaska Board of Nursing Mission:

The mission of the Alaska Board of Nursing is to actively promote and protect the health of the citizens of Alaska through the safe and effective practice of nursing as defined by law.

The Board adopts regulations to carry out the laws governing the practice of Nursing and the work of Nurse Aides in Alaska. It makes final licensing decisions and takes disciplinary action against people who violate the licensing laws.

The Board meets four times a year and offers a public comment period at each meeting.
