Click Here to Renew Online Renewal Instructions Payment and Refund Policy Renewal Applications MY LICENSE Online Renewal Please use our convenient MY LICENSE online renewal application. In most cases your license will be renewed immediately. Due to a heavy volume of renewal activities, processing time for renewal applications received by mail may take up to 4-6 weeks. In order to receive communication via email, your email address of record must be current at all times. You may verify your current email address via the MY LICENSE self-service portal. If you are expecting communication from our office, please be sure to check your spam/junk mail folder. If you have not registered, follow these simple steps: Visit the MY LICENSE customer home page at: ProfessionalLicense.Alaska.Gov/MYLICENSE If you have an existing myAlaska account, enter your account information. If not, please create an account. You will be redirected to the MY LICENSE customer home page. Under Access an Existing License, enter your license number and Web Authorization Code, if one has been provided. This information is on your renewal notice. To renew your license, simply select the license you wish to renew from the Professional Licensing section. Valid License Numbers Contain Either: 6 numbers OR 4 letters + at least 1 number If you have an alpha-numeric license number, you must enter all of the characters in order to renew online. EXAMPLE: ABCD1234 New Continuing Education Regulations The new continuing education regulations go into effect on October 15, 2023. Public Notice: Notice of Adopted Changes to the Regulations of the Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors On August 18, 2023, the Alaska State Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors adopted regulation changes in Title 12, Chapter 36 of the Alaska Administrative Code. The regulations updated concern work experience requirements, definitions, and examination requirements for structural engineers. The regulation changes were reviewed and approved by the Department of Law, signed, and filed by the Lieutenant Governor (or designee) on September 22, 2023, and will go into effect on October 22, 2023. Hard Copy License Certificates Discontinued The division has expanded our online services to allow licensees to download their own license certificates on demand. As a result, the division no longer mails hardcopy license certificates. The certificates will be located under the “initial application” and “renewal” events in the MY LICENSE account. Name and Address Changes A person licensed, registered, or certified by a board or commission listed in AS 08.01.010, or in an occupation listed in AS 08.01.010, shall maintain a current, valid, mailing address on file with the division at all times. The latest mailing address on file with the division is the address that will be used for official communications, notifications, and service of legal process. A licensee must notify the division in writing, of a change of the licensee’s address. If a licensee has a change of name, the licensee shall submit to the division within 30 days of the change of name notification of the change of the licensee’s name, on a form provided by the division that has been completed by the licensee and notarized; a copy of the marriage certificate, court document, or other legal document verifying the change of name; and the fee established in 12 AAC 02.105 for a name change. The division will issue a new license showing the change of name if a licensee meets the requirements in (c) of this section. Authority: AS 08.01.050 AS 08.01.080 AS 08.01.087 Name and/or Address Change Home Inspections by Licensed Engineers and Architects An individual who holds a valid license as a professional engineer or architect may do home inspections without obtaining a home inspector license. However, they cannot use the term “home inspector” in any way or advertise that they conduct home inspections. They also must seal, sign and date the inspection report. If they call themselves “home inspectors” or advertise their services as “home inspectors” or fail to seal, sign and date the report they are in violation of AS 08.18.053 and the Division will open an investigation for unlicensed practice.
