Notice of Office Closure

The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development offices will be closed to the public on November 23rd and 24th. We will be closed November 23rd in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday and November 24th is an unpaid furlough day for employees to reduce state expenses.

Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office

PLEASE NOTE-The Fairbanks Office will be unable to process handler permit November 22. 
Applications can be mailed to the Anchorage Office at 550 West 7th Ave. Ste. 1600, Anchorage, AK 99501.

Handler Permits are processed in Anchorage and Fairbanks on Wednesdays from 9am to Noon.

To simplify the process, AMCO purchased ID Printers and Cameras for the Anchorage and Fairbanks Offices, passport size photos are no longer required for walk ins only.

A passport size photo is required for all mail in applications.

Handlers may not work in restricted access areas until they obtain their Handler Permit Card. A completed course certificate does not suffice to work in restricted access areas.

Marijuana Handler Permit Application

As of May 1, 2017, there will be a $50.00 fee for a replacement Marijuana Handler Permit Card under 3 AAC 306.100(e).

Marijuana Handler Permit Training

A marijuana establishment and each licensee, employee, or agent of the marijuana establishment who sells, cultivates, manufactures, tests, or transports marijuana or a marijuana product, or who checks the identification of a consumer or visitor, must obtain a marijuana handler permit from the board before being licensed or beginning employment at a marijuana establishment, per 3 AAC 306.700.
