Community Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CCIAP)

Projects to conserve, protect, or restore coastal areas of communities throughout Alaska.

The federal Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CIAP) authorizes funds to be distributed to Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas producing states to mitigate the impacts of OCS oil and gas activities through projects that benefit the coastal environment. The State of Alaska is a recipient of federal CIAP funds.

The Alaska Legislature appropriated approximately one-half of the State of Alaska’s CIAP funds to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED) for grants to named recipient boroughs and regions in the Unorganized Borough, and to publicly-solicited applicants.

DCCED's Division of Community and Regional Affairs (DCRA) administers the department's CIAP funds as the Community Coastal Impact Assistance Program (CCIAP) for the community-based focus of the program, to distinguish from the appropriations to the Departments of Fish and Game and Natural Resources.

DCRA provides technical assistance to all CCIAP grantees for project management, planning, and grant administration.
